How to Replace Paper Sheet Music on Stage

Replacing paper sheet music on stage is not only about scanning PDFs. A paper binder contains organization, markings, set order and performance habits. A good iPad workflow needs to replace all of those things, not just the pages.

Start with the library. Import PDF sheet music, group related parts and make sure every score is named clearly. Then add the markings you need with Apple Pencil: cuts, cues, fingerings, repeats and reminders. A digital score should be at least as prepared as the paper copy it replaces.

Next, prepare setlists. Stage use depends on order. Gig lets musicians build setlists so the next score is ready when the song changes. Live Mode keeps the performance view focused on page turns and score navigation.

If your setup includes MIDI devices or guitar processors, connect those workflows before the show. A digital sheet music app can do more than paper by carrying preset information and performance commands with the score.

Finally, test the control method. Some musicians prefer tapping the iPad. Others use Apple Watch, tap zones or MIDI-related workflows. Gig is designed to support multiple performance styles so the paperless setup feels reliable, not fragile.
